A looming problem
For a long time now it's been difficult to navigate through the maze of movie studios to find out how to be legally licensed to screen movies in your church. Up until this point you've had to search far and wide one movie at a time — often to find the license fee is considerably more than you budgeted for. In many instances churches don't even know they are breaking the law. Many churches might feel they are covered given existing licensing arrangements but the reality is that to date there has been nothing in place to cover you for movies from some of Hollywood's BIGGEST STUDIOS. A BIG solution
Heritage HM have been working for the past few years to bring to Australian and New Zealand churches an annual movie license that will cover all the BIG MOVIE STUDIOS. It's taken some time but the end result is really exciting for you!
It's called THE BIG STUDIO MOVIE LICENSE and once you have it in place you are covered for a 12 month period to screen any films from the following movie studios...
WALT DISNEY, ROADSHOW FILMS, WARNER BROS, SONY, ICON, HOYTS DISTRIBUTION and HOPSCOTCH
ROADSHOW FILMS may include titles from studios such as NEW LINE and THE WEINSTEN COMPANY — covering films like THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
It's so exciting to see that you can get one license that will cover you for one year to screen movies for all of those movie studios. There is no existing license available in Australia or New Zealand that covers these studios.
Once you have THE BIG STUDIO MOVIE LICENSE in place, you are free to screen entire movies plus short clips in ANY part of the life of your church.
We're guessing you might think it'll cost lots? Guess again...
A minimal cost
The annual license fee covers you for 12 months from the date of your license and once you have it you don't need to do anything else. There is no need to report back to us at any stage in regards to which movies you are screening. All you need to do is make sure that the movies you are screening come from the studios listed above and you'll be covered if you have THE BIG STUDIO MOVIE LICENSE. This is pretty easy to do — just check the spine of the DVD and you'll see details about which movie studio is involved in the production and distribution of the film in our region.
Check out the table below to see what the annual fee will be for your church. To calculate your church size, just add up the number of people in attendance at all services you hold on an average weekend (please include children of all ages in the count).
