The provision of safe drinking water remains one of the highest priorities of the international aid community. With our bodies comprising of 60-70% of water, it is an essential and vital component to life…The Living Water Project is providing vitally needed clean drinking water to impoverished communities in a remote island in the Philippines. This work was started in late 2007 and has grown into a community driven project involving over a dozen villages and over 22,000 village people. Local people have access to clean drinking water through a Skyhydrant water filtration unit, supplied by Skyjuice Foundation. Around 13.2 million Filipinos are forced to drink contaminated water every day risking dysentery, parasites, liver and kidney damage, and premature death. The Living Water project provides water that is completely free of Bacteria and all other organic contaminants after passing through the Skyhydrant water filter. However, this is not just about clean water but is also a community development opportunity. The local teams are working hard to provide collaborative opportunities for the local people to self-administer the water filtration without any foreign aid that invariably builds dependency.
